About

The Academy Division serves as the cornerstone of Oklahoma Dance Center's educational curriculum, providing comprehensive dance instruction for students committed to advancing their technical training, artistic development, and performance abilities. Designed for dancers who demonstrate dedication, maturity, and a desire for structured study, the Academy Division offers a progressive course of training that develops the whole artist through disciplined instruction, mentorship, and meaningful performance experiences.

Students in the Academy Division participate in a carefully sequenced curriculum that emphasizes technical excellence, artistic expression, musicality, strength, flexibility, and performance quality. Classical ballet serves as the foundation of study, complemented by training in contemporary, character conditioning, and other disciplines appropriate to each student's level. Through consistent instruction and guided progression, students develop the knowledge, skills, and work habits necessary for continued advancement within the art form.

As a school, Oklahoma Dance Center is committed to educating dancers through a structured and age-appropriate approach that prioritizes long-term development over short-term achievement. Students are encouraged to cultivate discipline, responsibility, perseverance, and professionalism while learning to appreciate dance as both an art form and a means of personal growth. Faculty members work closely with each student to ensure they are challenged, supported, and prepared for future opportunities within the Academy Division, Pre-Professional Division, and beyond.

The Academy Division provides an environment where students are encouraged to pursue excellence while maintaining balance in their academic, family, and community lives. Through classroom instruction, performances, workshops, and artistic collaborations, dancers gain valuable experiences that contribute to their growth as artists, leaders, and individuals.

By combining exceptional instruction with a comprehensive educational philosophy, the Academy Division prepares students not only for success in dance, but also for success in life. Whether a student's goals include personal enrichment, advanced training, collegiate study, or professional aspirations, the Academy Division provides the foundation necessary to achieve their highest potential.

Enrollment Process

The Academy Program is a placement-based program designed for students who are ready for a more structured and progressive training environment. Students must complete a placement evaluation and receive a faculty recommendation before submitting the Pre-Academy Enrollment and Placement Form. This evaluation ensures that each dancer is placed in the level and training pathway that best supports their development and long-term success.

Following the evaluation, families may complete the Pre-Academy Enrollment and Placement Form, indicating their preferred classes and enrollment preferences. Submission of the form does not guarantee enrollment. Once received, Oklahoma Dance Center faculty will review the information and provide families with final placement recommendations, scheduling information, and tuition details before enrollment is finalized.

Step 1: Complete a placement evaluation.
Step 2: Receive faculty placement recommendations.
Step 3: Submit the Pre-Academy Enrollment and Placement Form (Includes uniform sizing and selection).
