Student Assistance & Scholarship Program
The Oklahoma Youth Arts Foundation, doing business as Oklahoma Ballet Theatre, is committed to ensuring that every student has access to quality arts education regardless of financial circumstances. Through our Student Assistance Program, we offer several forms of support to help dancers and performing arts students continue their training, pursue artistic excellence, and participate fully in educational and performance opportunities.
Available Assistance Options
Financial Aid
Financial Aid is designed for families who may need assistance covering the cost of tuition, class fees, performance participation fees, costumes, workshops, or other program-related expenses. Awards are based primarily on demonstrated financial need and available funding.
To be considered for Financial Aid, applicants must submit supporting financial documentation as part of the application process. Documentation may include tax returns, proof of income, public assistance documentation, or other financial records requested by the Oklahoma Youth Arts Foundation. All financial information is kept confidential and reviewed solely for the purpose of determining eligibility and award levels.
Financial Aid is intended to help ensure that no student is denied access to quality arts education due to financial hardship.
Work-Study Program
The Work-Study Program provides students and families with an opportunity to offset program costs through service and volunteer involvement. Participants may assist with approved activities such as event support, administrative projects, maintenance needs, facility assistance, production preparation, fundraising events, and other organizational needs. Work-study opportunities allow families to contribute their time and talents while earning tuition credit or program assistance.
To be eligible for the Work-Study Program, applicants must:
-
Be currently enrolled or planning to enroll in Oklahoma Ballet Theatre classes
-
Complete and submit a Work-Study Application.
-
Demonstrate financial need or a desire to offset program expenses through volunteer service.
-
Commit to completing assigned work-study hours within the designated time period.
-
Maintain good standing with Oklahoma Ballet Theatre and its affiliates
-
Follow all organizational policies, procedures, and volunteer guidelines.
Work-study assignments may include, but are not limited to:
-
Assisting with performances and productions
-
Costume organization and maintenance
-
Event setup and cleanup
-
Fundraising and community outreach events
-
Administrative and office support
-
Facility maintenance and studio assistance
-
Special projects as assigned by staff
Work-study credits are awarded based on approved hours completed and may be applied toward tuition, performance fees, costumes, or other eligible program expenses. Failure to complete assigned hours may result in a reduction or loss of work-study assistance.
The Oklahoma Ballet Theatre reserves the right to approve, modify, or discontinue work-study assignments based on organizational needs and participant performance.
Merit & Need-Based Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate dedication, commitment, artistic potential, and a passion for the performing arts. Scholarship awards may be based on merit, financial need, or a combination of both. These awards are intended to support students in their continued artistic development and participation in training, performances, workshops, summer intensives, and other educational opportunities.
Eligibility & Review Process
Students currently participating in dance, theatre, music, or other performing arts programs are encouraged to apply. Applications are carefully reviewed by the Oklahoma Ballet Theatre Scholarship Committee and Board of Directors. Consideration is given to factors such as:
-
Financial need
-
Artistic dedication and commitment
-
Participation and involvement in the arts community
-
Educational and artistic goals
-
Demonstrated desire for continued growth and training
Applications may be submitted throughout the year and are reviewed based on available funding and program resources.
