The Pre-Academy Program serves as an important stepping stone in a dancer’s educational journey, providing focused instruction that lays the groundwork for long-term success in dance. Students receive comprehensive training in fundamental technique while developing the habits, work ethic, and classroom etiquette expected of dedicated young artists. Emphasis is placed on proper alignment, strength, flexibility, musicality, performance quality, and artistic expression in a supportive and encouraging environment.

 

Our faculty recognizes that every dancer develops at their own pace and is committed to nurturing both technical growth and personal confidence. The Pre-Academy curriculum is carefully designed to challenge students while fostering a genuine love for learning and the performing arts. By establishing strong fundamentals during these formative years, dancers are prepared to successfully transition into more advanced levels of training and pursue their individual goals with confidence.

Enrollment Process

The Pre-Academy Program is a placement-based program designed for students who are ready for a more structured and progressive training environment. Students must complete a placement evaluation and receive a faculty recommendation before submitting the Pre-Academy Enrollment and Placement Form. This evaluation ensures that each dancer is placed in the level and training pathway that best supports their development and long-term success.

Following the evaluation, families may complete the Pre-Academy Enrollment and Placement Form, indicating their preferred classes and enrollment preferences. Submission of the form does not guarantee enrollment. Once received, Oklahoma Dance Center faculty will review the information and provide families with final placement recommendations, scheduling information, and tuition details before enrollment is finalized.

Step 1: Complete a placement evaluation.
Step 2: Receive faculty placement recommendations.
Step 3: Submit the Pre-Academy Enrollment and Placement Form (Includes uniform sizing and selection).
Step 4: Review enrollment and tuition information provided by Oklahoma Dance Center.
Step 5: Complete registration and secure your student's placement.

Required Classes:

- 2 Ballet technique classes a week

Performance Opportunities

Pre-Academy students have the opportunity to participate in Oklahoma Ballet Theatre performances and Oklahoma Dance Center showcases throughout the season, allowing them to build confidence and experience the excitement of performing on stage.

• Hair secured neatly away from the face in a bun or ponytail if hair is short

Students should arrive dressed and ready for class. Comfortable, properly fitted dance attire helps ensure a safe and successful learning experience while allowing instructors to provide quality technical instruction.
